Thanksgiving this year was with Greg's family
and was hosted by his brother's family.
The food was a-MA-zing and the company de-LIGHT-ful!!!
We had a BLAST!

After we ate we hung out in their HUGE acre+ backyard which was awesome because the weather was fabulous and they have TONS of toys and animals
(cats, dogs, tortoises, bunnies, and a horse).
What more can you ask for?!?!

Camping

We took the boys camping at a park near by.
The boys had a lot of fun roasting hot dogs for dinner and marshmallows for dessert.

Everything went great until our dog had a standoff with a skunk!
Of course it sprayed and it was horrid!
Luckily the boys slept through it.

The next morning our dog was banned from anywhere near us!

Plant with a Message

My bestie gave me a present one time that was this plant in a can. Everyday Reese made sure it had water and watched it grow. After it bloomed you could see a message on it. How cool is that? How do they do it??? It was a fun gift!

Silly Boy

Reese is such a character these days. It's a good time he's as entertaining as he is frustrating because otherwise I'm not sure if either of us would survive his terrible three's!

This reminds me of a picture my mom took of my brothers when they were little and had underwear over their heads too. CRAZY BOY!

Every morning Reese comes into our room (lately it's been before 6:00AM thanks to the early rising sun). He used to climb into our bed but now he climbs into Jake's bed and goes back to sleep.

Grand Canyon

Greg and I decided we wanted to hike the Grand Canyon. Greg had done the hike last year with the scouts. This would be my first time. We went down the South Kaibab trail to the river and then back up to the rim via Bright Angel trail. I think the whole trip was about 17 miles. This was certainly the longest hike I have ever done. I wanted to enjoy the hike, so I trained and trained and trained. Lots of running on an incline and steep hiking to build up endurance. I'm glad I trained because it made the last part much more enjoyable...Greg says he trained to make the last part just "less miserable". It is true, the last 2 miles are much harder than the first 15! We had a great time. It was such a good experience and I would do it again.

(Is it bad that one of the best parts for me was that I got my first overnight away from my kids???)

Boo splash pad...

A few weeks ago I took the kids to a splash pad. I was trying to keep an eye on Reese when I suddenly heard Collin cry. I turned around and he was leaning over with his hands on a metal grate. I could tell he was in pain by the way he was crying. I ran over to him (luckily he was only 10 feet away) and picked him up. His hands were red so I ran them in the water. It didn't take very long before I saw blisters starting to form (on both hands).
I called his pediatrician's office and the nurse said to take him into the Children's Hospital ER. I met Greg there so that he could take care of Reese. Poor Collin was crying the whole time. They finally gave him a dose of Tylenol with Codine and things were better after that. They wrapped his hands and told us to follow up with the AZ Burn Center the next day. I thought I was in for a long night with him up crying since they wrapped his thumb he sucks on... but the Tylenol with Codine worked great and he slept through the night.
So the next day I took him into the AZ Burn Center and they said his hands didn't have to be wrapped and to just put a lot of Hydrophor on them (to keep them hydrated). It took a couple of weeks for his hands to fully heal from the blisters, but he didn't seem to mind them too much.
Needless to say I had a few words with the Park's supervisor regarding that metal grate. When I told her my son burned his hands she knew the exact grate I was referring to. That tells me it probably happens fairly often each summer. So how come they don't have a cone or a sign around it? And why is it not painted white or something that might keep it cooler??? This happened on one of the 1st hot days here and he got 2nd degree burns???? I can only imagine how hot that grate gets when its been a constant 110 degrees for weeks! The supervisor said she would see about getting the grate painted white or a sign up over the grate. Maybe she will, maybe she won't but I felt like I had to at least call and try to get them to do something!

Greg got to go to a .NET conference in Las Vegas and we decided to go with him.

We stayed at the Palms resort and casino and one of the towers has a large playboy bunny head on the side. So lovely, right? Well Reese kept pointing out the rabbit on the hotel and by the end of the trip he kept referring to our hotel room as the room by the rabbit. Nice, huh? Gotta love the Vegas!

While Greg was at his conference during the day I took the boys swimming in the hotel pool and to various parks. I avoided doing anything at the hotels on the Strip because I really didn't want to attempt that with two toddlers by myself...especially when we forgot to bring a stroller!
One of the mornings we parked outside of the airport to watch the airplanes take off and land. Reese loved that.

I went to the zoo with my bestie (bestfriend) Cerra (and some of her family). I had to twist Cerra's arm to ride a camel so that Reese could do it. Actually it was more like Cerra twisting Reese's arm to ride so that she could do it without looking too weird...right, Cerra?
Although she wouldn't have looked that weird compared to the 20 year old girl that rode the camel by herself...in a skirt. Who does that?

6 Months

He's quite a bit bigger than Reese was at 6 months!

WA Trip

Greg's work let him attend a week long Microsoft conference in WA and so we decided we'd go with him! A chance to escape the blistering AZ heat???? Not a hard decision!!!

We went hiking up Mt. Rainier for over an hour and Reese was such a trooper. He hiked by himself almost the whole way! We only carried him during the parts where the steps were taller than the length of his legs!The weather was GORGEOUS! It was kind of cloudy as we drove up but then it cleared as we started hiking which gave us a fantastic view of the top of the mountain.I couldn't believe there was snow on the ground. How many of you can say you built a snowman and kissed it...in August????? Reese did!There were a lot of really cool waterfalls running down the mountain.Gravity seemed to take its toll on Reese's sinuses!

Our hotel was right by the Seattle temple!
We took Reese to the Children's Museum and his favorite part was the grocery shopping room. He didn't want to leave!

Collin is 3 months!

Collin is NOT a sleeper in the day. Just catnaps. He sleeps pretty well at night, gets up one or two times to eat but goes right back down. Now if he can just get the daytime nap thing down I'd be a happy camper!

Collin is smiley these days and full of coo's. He's almost laughing. There's been a few times where he's chuckled, but mostly just grunting. He likes to chew on his fists a lot. He's a super pooper...he's actually pooping as right now as I am typing this! LOL! Better go change him before he leaks out onto my lap!!!

My Labor Story

For those interested in reading about my labor...

On Friday, March 12th, I went into the hospital to be induced at 1 pm and got settled in a room by 2 pm. The doctor broke my water and started me on pitocin at 3 pm. Contractions began right away and were progressing pretty fast. Knowing how fast Reese came I wasn't too surprised. Pain started getting bad around 4:30 pm so I got an epidural at 5 pm. After that it was smooth sailing! My favorite part was watching the screen monitoring my contractions and thinking, "whoa that one would have hurt!" (hurray for epidurals)! I started pushing about 6:55 pm and Collin was born at 7:15 pm. He came out blinking and crying. He weighed in at 7 lbs 7 oz and measured 19.5 inches long. I'm VERY glad it's over, however overall it was a much better experience than the first time around. And now I am sooooo grateful to have my body back!!! I can finally sleep on my back, shave my legs, hold Reese on my lap, and sit in the car without the seat reclined so far back I can hardly reach the steering wheel! HURRAY!

Instant Big Brother

and when I went to pick him back up Reese got upset.
He reached out for Collin and said, "I want!"

Reese likes to hold Collin and tell him about important things,
like the clock in the room or his new bike.

And when Collin cries in his lap he brushes his head
and says, "shhh, baby". It's soooo cute to watch!

Reese wasn't as interested in it as I thought he might be.

Utah Snow

It snowed while we were in Utah and Reese kept wanting to go
outside to play. I tried to put his gloves on before he started playing
but like any toddler, he kept fighting me so I let him have his way
(knowing he'd be back). He grabbed one handful of snow,
made his cold face (same as his "muscles face")
and was suddenly willingly putting his mittens on!

I had plans to build a huge snowman, taller than Reese
but the snow was really dry and powdery so it didn't work so well.
The best I could do was about 1 foot high. :(
Reese kept wanting to knock the head off. I think he thought
it was just a ball set up on a short stumpy tee.

It's amazing how fast kids can learn something when candy is involved!
For a few days after Halloween Reese kept saying, "tick-or-teet"
in hopes I'd give him more treats.

Everytime the doorbell rang Reese ran to the door excited,
but then most of the time once he opened the door
he got scared of the kids in costumes.

My Little Toddler

Reese is a busy toddler these days!
He's always into something and rarely slows down.
He likes to wave to everyone and say "hi" or "ba-bye".
He also announces "car" (although it comes out "kai")
every time he sees any type of vehicle.

He's quite the character and keeps me on my toes!

Labor Day

Greg had Labor Day off so we took a little day trip to Sedona.
We tried to do a hike but Reese insisted on walking instead of
riding in the backpack carrier, so it turned it out to be a short hike.

Greg and I left Reese with my parents for the day and headed up to Park City. We went to one of the resorts that had some great rides. We did a zip line, the Alpine slide and the Alpine coaster. The coaster was our favorite. After that we caught dinner and a movie.
It was really nice having a whole day to ourselves!

Last week I saw in the weather forecast that we were going to hit triple digits this week. So, I decided to order this
L'il Squirt Baby Pool from One Step Ahead.
I thought it would be really fun for Reese and it was only $22.95!

So he tried it out today and he seemed to really love it.
He was very fascinated with the water shooting up around the sides.

It looks like Reese is kissing the octopus,
but I think he was trying to drink the water that was squirting out of it.

Backyard

9 Months

Christmas Tree

We bought a Christmas tree this year!
I went into the store planning to "pre-buy" a floor model
for 70% off (I was supposed to wait to pick it up until
after Christmas), but then they let us just take it now. YEAH!

This may look like big 10 ft tree...

but really it's a 7 1/2 ft tree that's been "baby proofed"!

Reese was soooo helpful while we were tiling downstairs.
He helped us with all kinds of things we didn't know we needed help with:

* chew on all the tile spacers *
* sit on the tile mom/dad is trying to glue down *
* sand the tile *
* chisel the dog *
* smear tile adhesive all over his hands and face *
* splash in the dirty grout water *
* lick the hammers *

Phoenix Zoo

I went to the Phoenix Zoo with 2 sister-in-laws (and Wade). It was great weather and was nice to get out. We bought season passes so hopefully we can continue going all winter long. I don't think Reese looked at the animals much, but he loves getting out so he still had fun.

He likes to climb on him, play with his collar, grab his ears,
lick his fur, poke his eyes, grab his tail nub,
plus who knows what else while I'm not looking!

Trip to St. George

I went to St. George, UT with my inlaws for Greg's cousin's wedding.
It was nice to get out of town and
Reese had a great time playing with everyone.

Reese had fun crawling around the temple
discovering dirt, bugs, and who knows what else.

...but not Grandpa Nolan's!!!!

We went to a have a cookout one night.
We had some great food and even got to see some deer!

Reese started crawling this week!
I was having a hard time getting him to perform
so I put one of his favorite baby cookies on the floor.
Watch and you'll see him eyeing the cookie then going for it.

Reese's New Trick

Reese learned a new trick...spitting!
He can get some serious distance with his green beans.

Trip to Utah

I got to visit my parents in Utah.

Reese had a great time with my dad.
I think the two of them really had a good time entertaining eachother!
I've never seen Reese laugh so hard (see video below).

Roommate Ricki

I don't think I laughed more with any other roommate at BYU.

Cousins

I got the opportunity to see some cousins while in Utah.
We had a great time visiting and catching up.

Two of my cousins had babies within 10 days of Reese
so it was really fun to see the three of them together.

1-What's your husband's full name? Greg Benjamin Clement
2-How long have the two of you been together? We have been married for 1 1/2 years.
3-How long did you date? We worked together for 2 years, and dated 6 months.
4-Who eats more? Before I was pregnant or nursing, Greg...now I'm not too sure!
5-Who said, "I love you, first?" Greg. He took me out for a fancy dinner at the Melting Pot, then drove up South Mountain to look at the romantic city lights. He started to work the conversation into saying "I love you" and then..."HOOOOOOONK...ATTENTION PLEASE, the park will be closing in 5 minutes". Nice timing of the park ranger, huh? So we left the park and he said "I love you" when we got home.
6-Who is taller? Greg
7-Who sings better? - Neither of us have what most like to call a "nice voice", but we try.
8-Who is smarter? Depends on the subject...history and political science, definitely Greg. He has so many random historical facts floating around in his noggin!
9-Who does the laundry? We used to both do it, but since I've been staying home with Reese I do most of it now.
10-Who does the dishes? We used to both do them, but since I'm home with Reese all day, I welcome doing dishes so I can hand the baby off!
11-Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Greg.
12-Who pays the bills? Greg hates dealing with bills especially when something goes wrong and you have to call customer service, so we try to do auto-bill pay as much as possible.
13- Who mows the lawn? Greg takes care of all the yardwork outside.
14-Who cooks dinner? We used to both do it, but now that I'm home I mostly do it.
15-Who drives when you are together? Greg
16-Who is more stubborn? Definitely ME, Greg is extremely laid back compared to me.
17-Who kissed who first? Joint effort that was so awkwardly clumsy it was comical (more funny now than at the time though).
18-Who asked who out first? Greg asked me, using his singles ward's goal to date as his crutch.
19-Who proposed? Greg. He took me to Tucson for an all-day date. He planned for us to see the Kartchner's Caverns and then go to a fancy dinner. I thought he was going to propose at dinner but he surprised me at a park before dinner.
20-Who is more sensitive? Probably me.

22-Who has more siblings? Greg, he has 3 brothers and a sister.

Baby Einstein DVD's

I decided I wanted to get some Baby Einstein DVD's but didn't want to pay full price so I checked out Craigslist. I found a woman who buys sets of 26 wholesale and then resells them for $70.
WAHOO! That's less than $3 per DVD! What a bargain!

So I popped one in to see if Reese would like it.
Here was his reaction...(I think he might like it)

The only reason he stopped watching was because
I started laughing at how mesmerized he was. Ha ha.

My New Addiction

My wonderful sister-in-law, Carly, suggested I try
Dreyer's Slow Churned 1/2 fat ice cream
and now I have become addicted!

It's so good and it has 1/2 the fat of regular ice cream!

It's so yummy and there is a great variety of flavors!

Only draw back is that it's kinda expensive

so you have to watch for sales and then stock up!

Yesterday Fry's had them on sale for under $3

so I bought 4 different kinds!

he chews on his fist and plays with his toes!

The dog usually just sleeps all day long...
but occasionally he'll lift his head to see
if anything interesting is going on.

Reese seemed to like it.

Grandma & Grandpa

Reese did pretty good on the trip to visit my parents. He was clingy most of the time, but my parents managed to get a few fun moments holding him. Reese would look really content so I'd hand him off, but then within about 10 seconds he'd be screaming. Then they'd hand him back to me and almost instantly he'd be content again. He definitely knows me! During his good moments, Reese would coo and laugh with my parents and grandma (except his laugh is more like a cute little grunt/coo at this point).

I'm glad I got to take Reese to the house I grew up in,
but it was pretty weird to see my parents house boxed up!
